Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2, 2026
DawnLight does not collect your data. We have no servers of our own, we run no ads, and we use no third-party analytics or tracking. Everything you create in the app stays on your device and, if you turn on iCloud, in your own private iCloud account — which only you can access. We never see it.
1. Who we are
DawnLight (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a faith-based daily devotional application for iOS. For any privacy questions, contact us at support@dawnlight.faith.
2. We do not collect anything
This is the core of our approach: DawnLight has no backend that receives your information. Your reflections, progress, and activity are never transmitted to us or to any third party. There is nothing for us to sell, share, or lose, because we never hold it in the first place.
The app does ask for a few iOS permissions so certain features can work. Granting them lets the feature run on your device in the moment — it does not send anything to us. The table below explains each one.
3. Permissions the app uses — and why
| Permission or data | Why it's needed | What happens to it |
|---|---|---|
| Journal entries & app content | To save your reflections and show your progress, streaks, and history. | Stays on your device and, if enabled, syncs through your own private iCloud (Apple CloudKit). Never sent to us. |
| Progress & practice records | To track your chosen path, completed days, and skill scores. | Stays on your device and your private iCloud. Never sent to us. |
| Location | Only when you open the Church Finder, to show places of worship near you. | Used for that moment on your device to draw the map. Never stored, never sent to us or anyone. |
| Contacts | Only when you use Reach Out and tap to pick one person, so you can message them. | Handled entirely by Apple's system picker at that moment. The app never reads your contact list, stores it, or transmits it. |
| iCloud | So your own data can move between your own devices. | Managed by Apple inside your personal iCloud account. We have no access to it. |
4. What we never do
- We do not collect, receive, or store your personal data on any server — we don't run one.
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data — there is nothing in our hands to share.
5. iCloud & Apple
DawnLight uses Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to sync your journal, favorites, and progress privately across your own devices. This data lives in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. It sits in your account's private database, which we have no access to — we cannot read, export, or view the contents of your iCloud data.
6. AI Chaplain
The AI Chaplain is designed to run privately on your device using Apple's on-device intelligence where your device supports it. On devices without on-device generative support, the Chaplain uses a built-in, rule-based responder that also runs entirely on-device. In either case, your conversations are not sent to us or to third-party AI services for our own use.
7. Purchases
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment card details. Apple shares limited transaction information with us so we can grant and restore access to premium features.
8. Your choices & rights
- You can revoke Location or Contacts access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.
- You can delete individual journal entries in the app, or delete all app data by removing the app and clearing its iCloud data in Settings → iCloud.
- You may request information about, or deletion of, any data associated with you by emailing support@dawnlight.faith.
9. Children
DawnLight is rated for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. Because the app collects no personal information at all, none is collected from children either.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date.
